Vidhu Vinod Chopra has always given us beautiful movies like Parinda, Parineeta, Mission Kashmir and the Munna Bhai series. The Munna Bhai series is a cult film which has a unique blend of comedy and social message. Story has it that Vidhu Vinod Chopra offered Subhash Kapoor, the director of Jolly LLB to make the 3rd instalment of Munnabhai. It is not known what transpired between the two but Subhash Kapoor has gone ahead and made Jolly LLB without Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
The film is based totally on the character of Jagdish Tyagi aka Jolly played by Arshad Warsi. It is a story of a looser Advocate whose practice is going no where in his home town, Meerut so wants to succeed by hook or crook. He moves to New Delhi and takes on a high profile case just to get famous. But the case land him against Advocate Rajpal, played by Boman Irani and the rest as they say, is history.
The film shot mostly in a court room is sure to have you in splits with every frame. I think Arshad's character is loosely based on Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny. But Arshad can hold his own in the role of Jolly.
The music of the film has not taken of as yet. Expect pretty good performances from all the cast and a handsome family entertainer. This will a film to watch this weekend.
Meanwhile enjoy the uncensored trailer of Jolly LLB
The second film releasing tomorrow is Ashima Chibber's Mere Dad ki Maruti. Ashima has worked as Assistant Director in films like Chak De India, Rockstar and Pyar Ke Side Effects before making Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Yashraj which is the distributer for the film, too, is coming out with a film after Mr.Yash Chopra's untimely death.
Much is expected of the film and the film is sure to deliver. Starring debutantes Saqib Saleem and Rhea Chakraborty and Ram Kapoor in backdrop a big fat Indian wedding at Chandigarh. A out and out comedy film, this is sure to hit the right chords with the audience.
Enjoy the trailer before embarking on a laugh riot.
Both the films are a class apart and utterly butterly delicious to watch. So make your choice which one to watch on Saturday and which one on Sunday.
Will see you on Monday with reviews of the films.
